The top 10 best brands in 2019

On 20 February 2019, for the 16th time, the strongest brands of the year will be celebrated with the presentation of the Best Brands Awards at the Bayerischer Hof Hotel in Munich. It has now been determined which out of the huge number of 300 potential Best Brands made it into the “Top 10” in each category.

Since 2004, the award has been presented in the categories “Best Corporate Brand”, “Best Product Brand” and “Best Growth Brand”, plus a special category that changes every year in which the focus is on one specific industry sector. In 2019, this special category will be “Best Digital Life Brand”. Since 2012, the “Best Corporate Brand” has also been regularly analysed on an international level, which means that this year the “Best German Corporate Brand (International)” will be awarded.

The sought-after marketing award is meanwhile also presented annually in China, Italy, Belgium and France. The first event in Russia is expected to take place in April 2019.

The Best Brands gala in Germany is held each year in February in the ballroom of the Bayerischer Hof Hotel in Munich. More than 600 invited guests from the worlds of business, retail and media attend the event. Former president of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, will open the 16th edition of the award ceremony on 20 February 2019. For the third time, the event will be hosted by TV presenter Klaas Heufer-Umlauf.

About Best Brands

Best Brands is the only marketing prize that measures the strength of a brand against two criteria, based on comprehensive, representative studies carried out by GfK: the actual commercial success on the market, or the “Share of Market” as it is known, and the attractiveness of the brand according to the consumers, or the “Share of Soul” as it is known.

More than 14,000 consumers take part in the different Best Brands studies. Together with the 30,000 households from the GfK Consumer Panels and the 27,000 businesses from the GfK Retail & Technology Panels, they form the empirical basis – it is the consumers who choose the winners each year from more than 300 potential Best Brands candidates in some 40 sectors.

Awards have been presented since 2004 in the “Best Product Brand”, “Best Growth Brand” and “Best Corporate Brand” categories, as well as in a special category that changes every year – the “Best Digital Life Brand” will be awarded as a special category in 2019.
